Matthew16:13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
The Lord Jesus Christ was the first to asked the disciples this same question. “He asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men (others) say that I the Son of man am?” And they said, some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets”
Again,” He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? ”in other words what is your revelation about me, though am a Son of man? 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, “Thou art THE CHRIST, the Son of the living God”
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood (theology) hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock (the revelation of who JESUS CHRIST is) I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it
Consider this:
What did Peter (a Jew) saw about a mortal being to the extend that “Simon Peter answered and said, “Thou art THE CHRIST, the Son of the living God” (i.e. The Anointed one/ the Messiah) “

And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,
2 And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.
3 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:
4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
6 And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.
7 And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.
